7- Social Media

Facebook started in 2004 and was created by Mark Zuckerberg and his friends. Facebook was first made for college students but quickly became a huge platform for everyone. Today, billions of people use Facebook to talk to friends, share photos, and keep up with news.

At first, Facebook was just for students, but soon it opened to everyone. Over time, it added features like the News Feed, Groups, and Marketplace, making it a place where people could do more than just chat. Businesses, celebrities, and regular people all use Facebook to connect, sell products, and share ideas.

Facebook has changed the way we use social media in many ways:

Talking to Friends – People can message, comment, and share updates anytime.

Business Advertising – Companies use Facebook ads to reach customers.

News and Information – Many people get their news from Facebook.

Politics and Activism – Political campaigns and social movements use Facebook to share messages.

Personally, I use Facebook for many different things. Although there are a lot of my friends on Facebook, there are also a lot my older friends and family. Facebook gives me a place to share what is going on in my life with some of the older people in my life! I also use Messenger daily as well; at the moment I send 3 meals a day to my workout Messenger group chat for a challenge that my workout group is doing throughout the month of May.

Messenger makes it super easy and simple to send pictures and have a lot of people in a group chat at one time. I really have enjoyed using Facebook and Messenger to help stay in the loop with my workout class!

Facebook is constantly changing and evolving to stay on track with trends. Facebook has big plans for virtual reality and AI tools. As new platforms like TikTok grow, Facebook must keep improving to stay relevant. Facebook has shaped social media in many ways, making it easy to connect, share, and stay informed. Despite its challenges, it remains one of the biggest platforms online and continues to evolve for the future.
